Back in business
The walking programme for LONDON FOOTSTEPS suffered some unexpected setbacks and there was nothing that could be done to prevent this happening. The start of the year looked promising as Covid restrictions were lifted but there was still a wide reluctance to sign up for London walks. Our changeable British weather has always been an issue but the extremely dry and hot conditions in the late Spring and Summer did cause several cancellations. Walking the streets was too uncomfortable and tiring so it made sense to scale back on the programme. Later came the disruptions on the railways so that people coming into London were unable to look ahead and make firm arrangements if the trains were likely to be hit by strikes. Some were also concerned that on days after stoppages the train services would be erratic and overcrowded. The hope now is that by early 2023 there will be an end to all these upheavals and the LONDON FOOTSTEPS’ walking programme can return to normality. After 17 successful years I hope it will be back in business.
