From Wren to Rogers

The skyline of the City is constantly changing .  Over 30 per cent of the office buildings have been demolished and re-built over the past 10 years.  Yet it could have been so different after the Great Fire of 1666 when Christopher Wren announced an astonishing plan to re-design the shape and pattern of London.

The plan was rejected but many of his fine churches remain despite the bombing of World War Two.  Yet disaster gave way to opportunity and today London has a unique blend of buildings, traditional and modern, and continues to inspire and fascinate a long list of distinguished architects including the present day giants, Lord Norman Foster and Lord Richard Rogers.
